The basics

Terms of Use

These terms explain the basic rules for using the Common Ground app and website.

Please read these terms before using Common Ground. By using the app or website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. The Services

Common Ground is a casual daily word puzzle app, together with the informational website at playcommonground.app (the “Services”). The Services are provided by Alexander Bill, the individual developer.

2. App license

The app is licensed, not sold. When you download Common Ground through Apple’s App Store, your use of the app is also subject to Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a different license is presented through the App Store.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Services for personal, noncommercial entertainment in accordance with these terms and applicable law. You may not interfere with the Services, attempt to gain unauthorized access to related systems, introduce malicious code, or use the Services in a way that infringes another person’s rights.

4. Intellectual property

The Common Ground name, visual design, app, site, puzzles, text, graphics, and other original materials are owned by the developer or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you. You may share results through features provided by the app, but may not copy, republish, sell, or commercially exploit substantial portions of the Services without permission.

5. Availability and puzzle content

The Services may change over time. Particular puzzles, modes, rewards, ads, or features may be corrected, replaced, delayed, suspended, or discontinued. We do not guarantee that every puzzle, feature, or service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

6. Advertising and future purchases

Common Ground may display interstitial and rewarded advertising. The app may offer optional purchases or subscriptions in the future. If offered, their price, duration, benefits, renewal terms, and other material conditions will be shown before purchase and will also be subject to the applicable App Store terms.

7. Disclaimers

The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. While we aim to provide accurate and enjoyable puzzles, clues and answers may occasionally contain mistakes, ambiguities, or interruptions. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services. Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent permitted by law. These limitations do not affect any non-waivable consumer rights.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Services or applicable requirements change. The “Last updated” date will identify the latest version. If a change is material, we may also provide notice in the app or by another reasonable method. Continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept the revised terms.

10. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by applicable law. They do not choose a jurisdiction or waive any mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live. Any dispute must be brought in a court or forum that has lawful jurisdiction.

11. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact method on the Common Ground Support page.
